Christians Against Poverty (CAP)
Christians Against Poverty [CAP NZ] has become a large part of GCC and the community. It is a debt counselling charity which works in partnership with GCC to help those dealing with tough financial stress or poverty.
CAP NZ is now looking after 665 families. GCC works as the face and feet of CAP NZ, and trains volunteers within GCC to be 'CAP Money Coaches'. They then hold CAP Money events which are free, and are a three session based course in which guests can receive tips and help on managing their debt. Having CAP in the Greenlane community is a fantastic way to expand the fellowship and service within GCC. Not only are volunteers assisting people who have lived fearfully in debt, but they are providing an outreach that echoes into all aspects of life. Many Money Coaches tell amazing stories, where they have seen families grow and come together through the course. 244 families have become debt free. [Nov. 2014 ] Being a part of something that sees kids go to school with lunch instead of hungry, and marriages saved is part of the motivation that sees this ministry thrive. CAP NZ has seen over 320 people come to Christ [Nov.2014] throughout their short time in NZ, and is continuing their outreach into the community.
